Philippines’ second-highest executive official in rank of the government, Leni Robredo revealed that she will pursue her resignation as Housing Secretary from the Cabinet of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Robredo announced the tough decision through a statement released on Sunday December 4, 2016.
According to the statement, she received a text message from Cabinet Secretary Jun Evasco, Jr., relaying the President's instruction through his executive assistant Bong Go for her "to desist from attending all Cabinet meetings" starting December 5 on Saturday.
Robredo also clarified that her resignation does not mean that she will also be leaving her vice president post.
"I will not allow the will of the people to be thwarted. I will continue to serve the Filipino family and fulfill their dream for a better life."
