BREAKING: Edgar Matobato and Trillanes Surrender to PNP Chief Bato at Camp Crame

After being slammed with a warrant of arrest by the Davao City Court, surprise witness and self-confessed assassin Edgar Matobato turned himself in to the Philippine National Police (PNP) and surrendered. This came after he faced charges for illegal possession of firearms, carrying a .45 caliber pistol without a permit last 2014.

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV accompanied Matobato to Camp Crame as the latter surrendered to police officials. Matobato gained prominence after a series of testimonies in the Senate related to drug killings in Davao City were supposedly led by President Rodrigo Duterte. Trillanes states that Matobato has no intention of fleeing away from the charges filed against him and may post bail after turning himself over to the police.

Matobato will be under the custody of the Crimininal Investigation and Detection Group in the National Capital Region (CIDG). PNP Chief Ronald 'Bato' Dela Rosa has ensured that Matobato's safety will be a priority while in the hands of the CIDG.

Senator Trillanes also said he will continue to protect the safety of the self-confessed assassin if he is granted to post bail. "All the legal options we will exercise that pero 'pag wala na talaga magagawa we will just have to make sure na safe and secure si Mr. Matobato,"
