BREAKING: Former Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago Passes Away

Former Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago passes away at the age of 71. The news was broke by her dear husband Atty. Jun santiago earlier this morning, September 29.
Sen. Santiago was one of the toughest lady senator that ever stepped in to the senate since the day she was first elected in the year 1995.

She was one of the Senators who were against the opening of the brown envelope during the impeachment trial of then president, Joseph Estrada, who was her foe in the 1998 presidential elections.

In October 2015, Santiago announced her intention to run for presidency in the 2016 Philippine presidential elections after her cancer was deemed ‘’stable’’ and ‘’receded’’ by doctors from the United States.
Back in 2014, the Senator revealed that she had lung cancer already in its 4th stage.

According to her husband, the senator died peacefully in her sleep while confined at the St. Luke's Medical Center in Bonifacio Global City. Santiago was born in Iloilo City on June 15, 1945, the former senator ran for president in the May 2016 elections but lost to President Rodrigo Duterte. She also aimed for presidency twice in the past but also failed.

However, the former Senator will surely be remembered by her accomplishments and world famous pick up lines, which is popular in today's generation.
