1. The hanging loop at the back of your buttoned shirt
If you've ever wondered what those are for, it's obviously for hanging it up. Secondly, it came from a generation or era wherein collars and handkerchiefs were removable.

2. The big cylinder on your laptop's charger
It's called a ferrite bead. What it does is suppress high-frequency noise in electric circuits. The huge cylinder is made from ferrite which is wrapped around the cable.
