Cory Aquino To Be The 3rd Pinoy saint? A Jesuit Priest Seeks Her Beatification!

The first ever woman president in Philippine history Corazon Aquino is one of the most beloved person in the country. She ran against Pres. Ferdinand Marcos which lead to the first ever “EDSA Revolution” back on 1986.

On her passing last August 1, 2009 her life was celebrated by the people and took a look back on her legacy and this incident lead to her only son Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III to run for president on the 2010 presidential election.

Now, years after her death a Jesuit priest close to the family of the late President Corazon Aquino to work for her sainthood now that she’s eligible to be beatified, lifestyle editor Joanne Rae Ramirez wrote.

In her Philippine Star column, Ramirez said Fr. Catalino Arevalo sees no problem with starting the beatification process for Cory since she was a person with “extraordinary Christian virtues”.

A person can only begin his/her beautification six years after that person’s death according to the Catcholic Church’s rule. Pres. Aquino died of colon cancer almost 7 years ago.Arevalo’s statement says:
From what I know of Tita Cory, I see no difficulty whatsoever and I think that we should start thinking of the possibility of starting a process ourselves.
Ramirez has vouched for Aquino’s exemplary character, saying she had no qualms suffering after she was inspired by the life of St. Francis after a visit to Assisi when her term as president ended.

“When she got back to the hotel, Cory got down on her knees and prayed, ‘Lord, I don’t think I’ll ask for more sufferings. But if more sufferings come my way, I will not complain,” she said.
