The arrival of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte on Indonesia received a warm welcome from the Indonesian government after the ASEAN Summit in Laos concluded. He traveled to Indonesia to have a discussion about bilateral matters and fortify the Philippines' ties with Indonesia as well as meet the Filipinos there.
He immediately proceeded to a high-class Shangri-La hotel to have discussions with Indonesian Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna H. Laoly. He is also set to meet the Filipino community in Indonesia as well as President Joko Widodo to discuss the situation of some Indonesians being kidnapped by the Abu Sayyaf extremist group while also having talks about Mary Jane Veloso, a Filipina who is still detained in Yogyakarta Prison.
The administration of Duterte's battle agains illegal drugs also prompted Indonesia's anti-drug chief Budi Waseso to similarly adapt their approach in fighting their own issues on drugs.
They will arrive at the State Palace at 3:00 p.m. to proceed their discussions to be followed by a joint press statement after.
